Research:

YThe Center continues the Community Based Participatory Research study that began in January of 2011 in Robeson and Columbus Counties tracking over 8,000 students since 2011 using the School Success Profile Plus (SSP+). This assessment tool is given to students at both the Public Schools of Robeson County and the Columbus County Schools yearly that provided us the baseline for our initial work (through NC-ACE) and has continued to provide us valuable data in this longitudinal study.

Using the School Success Profile Plus, (a modified version of the SSP), developed by the NC Academic Center for Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention Director Dr. Paul Smokowski, this tool provides insight into how students perceive themselves and their environments and gives us an understanding of the assets and risks for individuals and sub-groups of peers and influences. The SSP+ is also used in our teen court programs, our parenting programs and The CORe Project.
